Tooth Removal Aftercare -Things You Should Do
- Your tooth extraction care begins with rest for the next 10 minutes, do not move too much or perform any massive activity in the meantime. Keep your head a little upright from your resting pillow, and take painkillers as prescribed.
- Your second teeth removal aftercare step would be letting the extraction clot with the gauge given by your doctor. Do not chew the piece. Only bite it down to get set into the tooth place. If possible, please try not to replace the gauge immediately.
- You can use ice bags for teeth extraction aftercare – on the affected areas of your face for the next 1 hour; leaving ice bags too long might cause tissue damage. Ice bags would also help in reducing the swelling.
- Another molar extraction aftercare would also be avoiding dislodging the blood clots; please do not spit or rinse for the next 4 hours.
- Do take your medicines as prescribed by the doctor. If there are any signs of bleeding after 2-3 days, you have to consult your dentist immediately. Do not skip medicines as it would only prolong healing and recovery in tooth extraction aftercare.
- It is also recommended to consume only soft food items around the healing time.
And it is recommended to continue a liquid diet (if possible) for the next 1-2 days. As your extraction heals, do not consume any hard food around this time.

3) Regular Dentist Visits
3. Do not start brushing your teeth immediately either- you can use warm saline water rinses to keep the extracted area clean but only post 12 hours of surgery.
4) Dental Sealants
4. Lastly, avoid eating hard vegetables, sipping or sucking any food. Avoid hot or cold foods and drinks. Please don’t use a toothpick or tongue in the teeth gap as it might aggravate the bleeding.
